Fohawk hairstyles have, for what has turned out be quite a long period of time by fashion standards, continued to find appeal - generation to generation - among those of us who don't fear standing out from the crowd. People wear Fohawk hairstyles for a variety of reasons. There are, for instance, those who wear Fohawk hairstyles for the sense of uniqueness they instantly confer to the wearer. After all, not many people have the confidence to walk around with the Fohawk hairstyles, so that in as much as you can muster the guts to get yourself one or another Fohawk hairstyle, you can be sure that it will set you apart from the crowd. Of course, when we say that not many people have the confidence to walk around with the Fohawk hairstyles in question, and that the Fohawk hairstyles are certain to set you apart from the crowd, it is important to note that this applies to people living and operating in what might be considered 'conventional settings' because in some unique settings, like in some artistic circles, Fohawk hairstyles are actually the rule rather than the exception. Yet in the average (non-creative oriented office) setting, if you were to don one or another of the Fohawk hairstyles - especially the 'crazier variety' you can be probably sure that you would be the only one donning it in the whole office block; hence the 'uniqueness' factor. This is, of course, as long as your boss does not mind it in the first place. Besides the uniqueness factor, another reason people wear Fohawks hairstyles is as a statement of defiance to the 'establishment.' Of course, this only applies to the few Fohawks hairstyles on the extremes, as there is quite a good number of them that are within the range of look that the 'establishment' would generally approve of; especially the less stringent 'establishment' outside the workplace. It is important to note, with regard to Fohawks hairstyles, that it is the styling - rather than the cutting - which makes and defines them. You do need medium sized hair to benefit from any of the Fohawks hairstyles, because hair that is too short cannot, quite naturally, be worked into the forms required of Fohawks hairstyles; while hair that is too long (long enough to fall over the shoulders for instance) will typically prove unmanageable in styling it into any of the Fohawks hairstyles. While there are quite a great variety of individual Fohawks hairstyles, what brings them together is the fact that the hair of the wearer in whatever Fohawk hairstyle is worked into strips of different lengths. Unlike other types of similar hairstyles, general advice, as far as Fohawk hairstyles go, is against washing the hair before styling. This is especially so for those endowed with the softer varieties of hair. Some of the basic Fohawk hairstyles might be created with the 'bare hand' - especially if your hair is sturdy enough to stand straight on its own. To keep their hair strands that make up the different strips that create the Fohawk hairstyle, (and keep the hair strips from coming together again and messing up with the whole look), an accessory known as styling paste is employed.
